As a Clean & Green Operative you will work as part of a team to provide a high quality environmental maintenance service, including both planned and reactive work for all aspects of street cleansing and grounds maintenance functions. You will drive a range of Council owned vehicles including vans, tipper vans and link tips in addition to towing trailers commensurate with licence certification and appropriate training. You will use a full range of handheld plant with walk behind plant and machinery including pedestrian mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, as well as ride on grass cutting machinery commensurate with certification and/or successful completion of appropriate training.

You will hold a full UK Driving licence (Licence B and B1), have experience of working as part of a manual operational service and the ability to undertake tasks as directed to a high standard and be committed to health and safety and adherence to policy and procedures. Ideally you will have experience of operating commercial ride on and handheld grounds maintenance and street cleansing equipment e.g. mechanical sweepers, mowers, strimmer, hedge trimmers and blowers.

Hours of work 

36 hours per week to be worked flexibly between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday. You will also be required to work bank holidays and weekends on occasion to meet the demands of the service.

Your Role!

As our Compliance Delivery Officer (Asbestos), you will be the Council's lead asbestos specialist for our housing stock, playing a key role in ensuring the safety of residents, employees, contractors and members of the public.

Working within the Housing Service, you will support the Council's designated Responsible Person for domestic housing stock, leading on asbestos compliance, inspection programmes, contractor management and remedial works. You will maintain accurate asbestos records, oversee surveys and reinspections, monitor contractor performance and ensure that all asbestos-related activities comply with current legislation, regulations and best practice.

You will also provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues, residents and contractors, helping to promote a proactive culture of compliance and safety across the organisation. About You!

We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated asbestos professional with experience of managing compliance within a housing, property or asset management environment.

You will hold:

• BOHS P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos.
• BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings.
• A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Registration with an appropriate professional body (or the ability to demonstrate equivalent professional standing).

You will also have:

• Excellent knowledge of asbestos legislation, regulation and industry best practice.
• Experience of overseeing asbestos surveys, inspections, remedial works and contractor performance.
• The ability to analyse and interpret performance data and compliance information.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to advise residents, colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
• Experience of identifying risks, solving problems and implementing practical solutions.
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of key areas of responsibility.

Given the nature of the role, a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential to meet service delivery requirements.

About you

You will hold a full UK Driving licence (Licence B and B1), have experience of working as part of a manual operational service and the ability to undertake tasks as directed to a high standard and be committed to health and safety and adherence to policy and procedures. Ideally you will have experience of operating commercial handheld grounds maintenance and street cleansing equipment e.g. mowers, strimmer, hedge trimmers and blowers, however this is not essential as training will be given.

Hours of work

12 hours per week to be worked flexibly and will be based on the following schedule: Saturday 7am to 1pm and Sunday 7am to 1pm. You may also be required to work outside of these hours, bank holidays and throughout Monday to Friday on occasion to meet the needs of the service.
