Salary:  £21,589 to £23,863 per annum
Post Type:  Full Time

A fantastic opportunity has arisen here at West Lancashire Borough Council to recruit an Active Lifestyle Officer to join the team of our EU Funded project 'More Positive Together'.

The scheme provides pathways to improve the employment prospects of residents of working age (16-65) who are either actively or inactively looking for employment.  With a particular aim to support those most at risk of exclusion from the labour market due to multiple and complex barriers, such as substance misuse, mental and physical health problems, poverty, debt, low self-esteem and the long term unemployed.

Ideally we are looking for a candidate who has a track record of working in employment related projects, specifically with hard to reach groups and developing pathways to health and wellbeing that help to reduce and remove barriers that prevent people from achieving their potential.

The successful post-holder will also be responsible for providing on-going support to help participants move closer to the labour market.  This will involve linking participants with the right support and training to improve confidence levels, skills and readiness for employment.

You will also be part of a small results driven team, so the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and demonstrate excellent communication, influencing and problem solving essential.

So, if you are passionate about working in the community and helping people on a pathway to achieving their potential, then this may be the right role for you.

The post is offered on a fixed term contract until December 2019 and will require flexibility and innovative thinking in the delivery of the project.
