West Lancashire Borough Council’s Development & Regeneration Service is looking to employ a Building Facilities Assistant at the flagship West Lancashire Investment Centre, a vibrant and dynamic business hub situated at Junction 4 of the M58 offering state of the art office accommodation and conferencing room facilities as well as a business café

The successful candidate will be required to provide an effective caretaking, maintenance and repair service, contributing to the smooth running of the Investment Centre by carrying out a full range of on-site duties, both internal and external, as required in order to ensure the Centre continues to be a welcoming, safe and attractive environment for business tenants, their visitors and conference clients alike.

Duties include:

  • To ensure at all times that the Centre, and its furnishings and grounds are kept clean, tidy, safe and in good repair.  

  • To complete a schedule of planned maintenance, ensuring that work carried out is of the highest standard and that full records of work undertaken are kept.  

  • To identify maintenance requirements including electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation, furnishings and decoration/painting, etc., undertaking repair/replacement or supervising external contractors.

  • To assist with the day-to-day management of the conference facilities, ensuring room layouts and equipment requests are met.

  • To provide a rapid response service for unforeseen or emergency situations, including providing first aid assistance.

  • To carry out weekly fire alarm tests and to assist with fire marshalling during building evacuations.

  • To monitor the Building Maintenance System panel, reporting on plant performance to the Centre Manager.

  • To maintain stocks of general maintenance items and building consumables.

  • To assist with general reception duties and deliveries when required.

This post will require physical effort, for example when moving furniture and handling plant and equipment.

Enthusiastic, with good organisational skills and demonstrating initiative in their work the appointed person will help facilitate the smooth running of the Centre to allow our clients’ primary focus to be set on their business.
