West Lancashire lies at the heart of the North West of England, located within easy reach of major conurbations such as Manchester and Liverpool.  The Borough has a growing economy, is home to a top-class University and is a desirable place to live and work. West Lancashire has a wealth of heritage assets, including 28 Conservation Areas, around 600 Listed Buildings, 12 Scheduled Monuments and a Listed Park and Garden. The Council's Development, Heritage and Environment team is committed to protecting West Lancashire's distinctive built and natural environments.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Planning Officer (Conservation) who will take a lead role in the provision of a high quality conservation/heritage advice service to the Borough. The successful candidate will appraise, process and make recommendations on planning and related applications affecting heritage assets and provide pre-application advice to ensure that the impact of development on heritage assets is given early consideration. In relation to schemes which impact on the Borough's heritage assets, the successful candidate will represent the Council in negotiations at a senior level with developers, the public and external agencies.
