West Lancashire lies at the heart of the North West of England, located within easy reach of major conurbations such as Manchester and Liverpool. The Borough has a growing economy, is home to a top-class University, and is a desirable place to live and work.

The Council is seeking to appoint a Planning Officer. This is a flexible post and the successful candidate will be required to work throughout the Growth and Development Service. The post holder may assist in the provision of the Council's development management service, help produce the Council's Local Plan, protect the Borough's heritage assets or assist in promoting economic regeneration. The successful candidate will be flexible in approach and the post would be suitable for a self-motivated graduate to gain experience or for an experienced planning officer. Appointment on the pay spine will be subject to skills and experience.

 

The post will initially be within the development management team and duties will  include dealing with planning applications and providing pre-application advice to potential applicants for planning permission. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to work to work effectively to deadlines and must be committed to providing high quality customer service.
